I haven’t posted anything in a while as I’ve been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks. About mid-May my family took a 2 week trip to the U.S. which involved two separate job interviews, and lots of family visiting. It was great, but a whirlwind of travel! The day after I returned to Japan, I had to get back to work, and I think I have only just now really reached full recovery from all of that. So here I am, back in the saddle with a question for you all.
My family is at a point of major transition. We basically have two choices before us. One option is to return to the U.S. This is a good and very tempting option. Having the general American life with which we are accustomed and all would be very nice, and there are a lot of pros to this position, though there are also some cons. The other option is to return to Japan to do mission work full time. This is also a good option, and very tempting in its own right. There are a lot of things we love about Japan, and indeed there is a lot of good work to be done here.
But of course, we can not live out both options. We must choose. But that is a very difficult decision to make! Either way is sacrificial in its own right, just in different ways. And either way is awesome in its own right, just in different ways. But most of all, either way takes our life as a family down a significantly different path. And there is really no turning back.
